Just a week after the Mega Millions jackpot was won on July 24, the game’s top prize was won again on July 31. A single ticket sold in California matched all six numbers drawn Friday night – the white balls 12, 35, 46, 48 and 69, plus the gold Mega Ball 23. The lucky ticket-holder wins the $22 million jackpot ($17.9 million cash).
It’s the fourth Mega Millions jackpot won this year. Two have been won in New Jersey – $202 million on February 11 and $123 million on July 24. The biggest jackpot since June 2019 was a $414 million prize won by an Arizona player on June 9.
The July 31 drawing also produced six winners of the game’s $10,000 third prize, plus a total of 327,599 winners at all other prize levels.
The jackpot for the next drawing on Tuesday, August 4, resets to its current starting value of $20 million ($16.3 million cash).
