RELEASE DATE: 1/18/2023
Just one drawing after a big $1.348 billion Mega Millions® win in Maine, the jackpot was won again, this time in New York. One ticket matched all six numbers drawn Tuesday night – the white balls 2, 12, 18, 24 and 39, plus the gold Mega Ball 18 – to win the prize of $20 million ($10.6 million cash). Truly, Mega Millions jackpots can be won anywhere, at any time! This winning ticket was purchased at 170th Street Grocery in the Bronx.
Also in the January 17 drawing, one ticket sold in Massachusetts matched all five white balls to win the game’s second-tier prize. Because that ticket included the optional Megaplier (available in most states with an extra $1 purchase), which was 3X on Tuesday night, it is worth $3 million.
For matching four white balls plus the Mega Ball, 25 tickets have a third-tier win. Of those, nine also included the optional Megaplier and are worth $30,000 each. The other 16 win the standard $10,000 prize.
In total, for the single drawing in this cycle, there were 527,136 winning tickets at all prize levels, including the jackpot-winning ticket.
The jackpot for the next drawing on Friday, January 20, again resets to its current starting value of $20 million ($10.6 million cash).
