In advance of tonight’s Mega Millions® drawing, robust sales have pushed the jackpot even higher, with an estimated $1.13 billion ($537.5 million cash) now on tap for the 31st drawing in this jackpot run.
“The Mega Millions jackpot has been bumped even higher due to strong sales across the country,” said Georgia Lottery President and CEO Gretchen Corbin, lead director of the Mega Millions Consortium. “This is exciting news, not just for our players, but also for lottery-funded beneficiary programs in each jurisdiction.”
Only four previous Mega Millions jackpots have surpassed this level, including the game’s current record prize of $1.602 billion, won in Florida last August 8.
The jackpot has been rolling since December 8, when it was won with two tickets in California. We remind players to check their tickets – there are eight prize tiers in addition to the jackpot. In the March 22 drawing alone, there were a total of 2,564,114 winning tickets at all non-jackpot prize levels. And in the 30 drawings during this jackpot run, there have been more than 26.2 million winning Mega Millions tickets at all prize levels.
Tuesday night’s drawing will be conducted as usual at the WSB-TV studio in Atlanta, Georgia, at 11 p.m. Eastern time. Soon afterwards, the draw video will be available through the Mega Millions website.
Tickets for the $2 game are sold in 45 states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands. In most jurisdictions, players can add the Megaplier for an additional $1 to multiply their non-jackpot prizes. Half of the proceeds from the sale of each Mega Millions ticket remains in the state where the ticket was sold, where the money supports designated good causes and retailer commissions.
