Drawing Date: 9/2/2014
October 16, 2014 - Dariusz Bugnacki, of Brooklyn, claimed a $1,000,000 second prize from the September 2 Mega Millions drawing on September 4. The 50-year-old “retired” carpenter originally from Poland, said he enjoys playing different Lottery draw games every day.
On September 2, Bugnacki said he went to “his” 7-Eleven at 883-885 Manhattan Ave. in Brooklyn to buy a Quick Pick ticket for that evening’s Mega Millions drawing. The next morning, he checked his numbers on the Lottery’s website.
“I started matching up the numbers and I felt light headed. I had to leave my computer and then come back to it. I had a hard time perceiving that it was real,” he explained through an interpreter.
The winning numbers for the September 2 Mega Millions drawing were 01, 08, 54, 69, 72 and Mega Ball 01.
Bugnacki received his prize in one lump sum payment totaling $623,040 after required withholdings. He said his plans for the money include investing and saving for his daughter’s education.
