California player claims Mega Millions prize
Drawing Date: 10/17/2014
October 28, 2014 - Sean Ransom is the type of California Lottery player who likes to play when there is big money to be won. So it is no surprise that Ransom decided to buy 10 Quick Picks for the October 17 drawing, since the jackpot was up to $180 million. Ransom was three numbers away from that jackpot when he matched the numbers 60, 31, 43, 56 and 21, missing only the Mega number of 12. Ransom’s Quick Pick had the Mega number of 15. Ransom isn’t complaining though as his winning ticket is worth $274,279.
Ransom bought his lucky ticket at the 7-Eleven, located at 913 South Prairie Avenue in Inglewood (Los Angeles County).
Ransom didn’t even know he won until this past weekend. “I had the ticket lying on the dresser,” Ransom told the California Lottery. “I took it back to store and checked it. I couldn’t believe it so I had the clerk take a look. She kind of nodded her head letting me know I won,” Ransom said.
Ransom, who is a social worker helping people who were formerly homeless, plans on investing the money.
