Seventeen coworkers from hit television show win $1,000,000
Drawing Date: 10/31/2014
February 5, 2015 - Seventeen coworkers from the hit television show “Elementary” have finally hit the Lottery. The transportation department colleagues have worked and played the Lottery together for the past three years. Their persistence finally paid off when a set of their numbers matched the first five numbers drawn from the October 31 Mega Millions drawing earning them the $1,000,000 second prize.
Group spokesperson Raphael Banks explained he realized their good fortune from a news article. “I saw an article reporting that the winning ticket was purchased at the store where I buy our tickets,” he said. “I checked online and saw that we matched five numbers. I still wasn’t one hundred percent sure so I went to the store to double check. All I could think was ‘at last!’”
The group claimed their prize as the 17 Amigos LLC on November 17, 2014. The $1,000,000 Mega Millions second prize is paid as a lump sum. They will receive a single net check totaling $661,800 after required withholdings.
“I told the group the good news once we were all together,” Banks explained. “They thought I was lying. When they finally got that we actually won, they were really happy. Many people in the group have college-aged children and this win will help with their educations.”
The winning numbers for the October 31 Mega Millions drawing were 11, 29, 36, 58, 67 and Mega Ball 15.
