California hoops fan wins big with Mega Millions ticket
Drawing Date: 3/31/2015
April 7, 2015 – Anthony Fazzini is a huge basketball fan. While his team, the Golden State Warriors, is having a great year, one could say Fazzini may be having a better one. That’s because Fazzini is $672,000 richer after matching five numbers, missing just the Mega number, in the March 31 Mega Millions drawing.
Fazzini’s winning ticket was sold at the ARCO ampm located at 4501 Main Street in Oakley (Contra Costa County), Calif. It matched the numbers 26-61-41-73 and 8, missing only the Mega number 11.
And speaking of tickets, what does Fazzini plan to do with some of his winnings? “I’m planning on trying to get some Warriors’ playoff tickets for this year and maybe season tickets for next year,” Fazzini told the California Lottery.
Fazzini has his dad to thank for his luck. “My dad bought me the (lottery) ticket and left it for me. I checked it on Wednesday, which was April Fools’ Day. I had to look at it a few times to make sure it wasn’t a prank,” Fazzini said. The hoops superfan says he plans on buying his dad a new truck to thank him for the winning ticket. “The numbers he chose were birthdays,” Fazzini said about his ticket.
The Oakley resident says he also plans on putting away money for his daughter’s college fund and taking a trip to Italy.
