Minnesota player happy to have $1 million problem
Drawing Date: 6/2/2015
June 4, 2015—“It’s a good problem to have,” said Anthony Fusaro of Plymouth, Minn., as he contemplated what he’d do with the $1 million Mega Millions prize that he had just won.
Fusaro was about to go back to work after his lunch break when he decided to check the winning Mega Millions numbers for June 2. When he saw the winning numbers, he didn’t even need to compare them to his ticket to know that he won $1 million.
Fusaro has been playing the same numbers for over a year so he knew immediately that his ticket matched the first five numbers drawn (2-9-11-22-23) to win $1 million.
Instead of going back to work, Fusaro called his boss and asked for the afternoon off so he could claim the $1 million prize.
“If I would have played ‘12’ instead of ‘8’ for the Mega Ball I would be splitting the [$260 million] jackpot with someone in Illinois,” he said. Missing out on the jackpot by one number didn’t seem to faze him though—he was very happy with his $1 million prize.
This was the 26th $1 million Mega Millions prize won in Minnesota since the Minnesota Lottery joined the game in January 2010.
Plymouth BP, located at 3855 Plymouth Blvd. in Plymouth, sold the winning ticket.
