Quick pick leads to $1 million win for Pennsylvania man
Drawing Date: 8/21/2015
August 26, 2015 - Daryl B. normally picks his own numbers on the occasions that he plays Mega Millions and Powerball. But on the day he visited Mifflin Town Mart in Mifflintown, Penn., he was in a bit of a hurry.
“I asked the clerk to give me quick picks for Mega Millions and Powerball, and also an instant game - which turned out to be a $4 winner,” Daryl said with a laugh.
But Daryl wasn’t done winning quite yet.
A few days later, he got a call from his daughter who asked if he had played Mega Millions at Mifflin Town Mart, because local news was reporting the store had sold a big winner.
“I grabbed the ticket out of my car and pulled up the results on the computer. When I saw the numbers, I yelled for my wife Ginger to come quickly.”
Ginger looked at the ticket and back at the computer screen. Daryl’s ticket matched five numbers from the August 21 Mega Millions drawing, winning a $1 million prize!
“At first, I didn’t believe it,” Ginger said while visiting Pennsylvania Lottery headquarters with Daryl and a few family members to claim the winning ticket. “Honestly, it still doesn’t feel real!”
Married for 46 years, the couple plans to use their winnings to help family members.
“We only played when we could afford to, so this win is a real blessing,” Ginger added.
Congratulations, Daryl and Ginger!
