Lawyer claims $750K Mega Millions ticket sold in Cupertino!

June 6, 2016 - You could say, watching the local news paid off for a lucky California Lottery player. After all it’s how Michael Ioannou found out he was a winner – a $750,207 Mega Millions winner!

Ioannou’s ticket was for the May 20th draw. A couple of days later the local news reported that a winning ticket was sold at Coach House Wine & Liquors in Cupertino, Calif., which just happens to be the store where Ioannou buys his tickets. That’s when he checked his ticket and couldn’t believe what he was seeing.

“I had to read it about 80 times to make sure,” Ioannou said. “I kept looking at it [the ticket] and I kept laughing.”

So what’s next for this 60-year-old lawyer? He plans to put the money away. He added, “It’ll make it easier to retire soon.”

Ioannou’s winning ticket matched the numbers 26-24-19-68-40, missing only the Mega number 8. Coach House Wine & Liquors is located at 1655 South De Anza Boulevard in Cupertino (Santa Clara County).
