Buying groceries turns into a whopping win
Drawing Date: 2/9/2018
August 14, 2018 – Linda Z. of Moorestown, N.J., and her husband stopped by Wegmans for a few quick items on the evening of the Friday, February 9. Seeing an old friend who was buying a lottery ticket for that night’s Mega Millions drawing reminded Linda that she hadn't played the lottery in a while and she decided to get in the game for that evening. So, she just picked up a single Quick Pick Mega Millions ticket.
The next morning, Linda's husband checked the numbers from the night before. He noticed five out of the five white balls matched the numbers on the ticket, missing only the Gold Mega Ball number. He excitedly tried to tell his wife, who dismissed him at first as trying to play a joke on her. When he didn't crack up laughing, she realized it might not actually be a joke and double checked the numbers herself. Linda was ecstatic when she realized she really had won and, even better, that the ticket was worth a $1,000,000 prize!
Linda arrived at Lottery Headquarters with her family to validate the ticket. Linda mentioned she already had some plans for her prize money, but mostly wanted to share it with her family. Linda and her husband were also considering moving to a new house, and this lucky prize has granted them the opportunity to expand their budget while house hunting.
Linda’s lucky ticket was purchased at Wegmans #8 on 2 Centerton Rd., Mt. Laurel in Burlington County.
