A jaw-dropping win for Kentucky player! Drawing Date: 3/5/2021 March 8, 2021 - A Louisville, Ky., man, who wishes to remain anonymous, says he’s exhausted from being so excited. The reason for that excitement? He found out Saturday morning he was holding the winning Mega Millions ticket worth $1,000,000. His ticket matched the first five white ball numbers but not the Mega Ball number from the March 5th drawing. The winner checked his ticket on the Kentucky Lottery’s website the morning after the drawing. “My mouth probably dropped open,” he said after realizing his five numbers matched the winning numbers drawn. The $8 Mega Millions ticket he purchased at Circle K on Bardstown Road in Louisville had four sets of quick pick numbers on it. It was the third set of numbers (line C) that won him the game’s second prize. Later that morning, on his way to work, he took the ticket to a store to check it when he got the confirmation he was hoping for. “I was kind of in shock. I can say I went to work in a good mood,” he told lottery officials. Yesterday afternoon, the Jefferson County man claimed the winning Mega Millions ticket, receiving a check for $710,000, after taxes. He told lottery officials with being in his early 50’s, the winnings will help prepare him for retirement. “It’s a nice little cushion,” he said.
