RELEASE DATE: 6/8/2016
It has been 19 months since the Mega Millions jackpot has been has been as high as $280 million, the estimated value for the next drawing on June 10. No ticket matched all six numbers drawn Tuesday night – 25, 48, 51, 65 and 72, plus the Mega Ball 4, so the jackpot keeps growing!
Two tickets matched the five white balls to win $1 million each; they were sold in Colorado and Michigan.
The Megaplier drawn for June 7 was 4x, meaning that all non-jackpot prizes are multiplied by four if the ticket includes the optional Megaplier (a $1 extra purchase available in most states).
Although the jackpot has remained elusive since it was last won for $157 million in Washington on March 8, there have been almost 36.8 million winning tickets sold at all other prize levels since that date. Of those, 31 matched five of the six numbers, winning prizes as high as $5 million when the optional Megaplier was included on the ticket.
At an estimated $280 million ($186 million cash), the June 10 drawing will rank as the 12th largest jackpot offered in Mega Millions history. The record prize for the game is $656 million on March 30, 2012, split between winners in Illinois, Kansas and Maryland. As always, the ticket price is just $1.
