RELEASE DATE: 6/25/2016
The jackpot is still growing! No ticket matched all six numbers drawn Friday night – 11, 14, 54, 57 and 63, plus the Mega Ball 11, so an estimated $390 million ($265 million cash) Mega Millions jackpot will be offered next Tuesday, June 28 – which ties the fourth largest jackpot in the game’s history! A $390 million prize was won on March 6, 2007, shared by winners in Georgia and New Jersey.
At $390 million, it’s the biggest prize offered in the game since March 18, 2014, when two tickets (sold in Florida and Maryland) shared a $414 million jackpot.
There were four Match 5 winning tickets in Friday night’s drawing. Three are worth $1 million, sold in Arizona, Illinois and North Carolina. One, sold in Texas, included the optional Megaplier purchase for an extra $1. With the 5x Megaplier drawn, that ticket is worth $5 million. It is the third $5 million Mega Millions winner in just the past two weeks! In fact, the 5x Megaplier has been drawn for five consecutive drawings, significantly increasing the prizes for more than 1.5 million winning tickets that added the option, which is available in most jurisdictions.
In total for the June 24 drawing, there were more than 3.7 million winning tickets sold at all prize levels.
The jackpot has been rolling since it was last won in Washington on March 8 at $157 million. Since that time, there have been 44 Match 5 winning tickets worth $1 million or more and a total of 52.1 million winning tickets at all prize levels.
The record Mega Millions jackpot is $656 million – three tickets shared that jackpot on March 30, 2012. Just behind that is the $648 million jackpot split by two winners on December 17, 2013. The only other jackpot higher than next Tuesday’s estimated prize was the $414 million won on March 18, 2014. The most won on a single ticket was $326 million on November 4, 2014.
